Artist's Description
Off the breaten path is an abandoned colonial style farm house (on Hwy. 11W) in Grainger County, Tennessee – built in 1848 by James Walker. After his death, it changed hands several times and was renovated around 1900 by adding a double front porch, siding, and ginger bread trim. County magistrate Charles K. Ellis owned the home until 1973.
The family that once lived in this abandoned farm house has long since moved away. One wonders why a child’s doll would mysteriously appear tucked behind the front door.
